Tyrone Li graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Informatics, specializing in Data Science. During his time there, he worked on projects ranging from predictive models for Airbnb pricing to building an e-ticketing platform with personalized recommendations and dashboards that made complex data easier to interpret. He enjoyed the opportunity to explore both the technical and design sides of data science, which shaped his approach to problem solving.
He developed a strong interest in how machine learning can be applied in real-world settings where speed, accuracy, and usability are critical. Projects involving fraud detection, personalization, and real-time decision systems highlighted the importance of building models that are not only accurate but also scalable and trustworthy. These experiences strengthened his focus on machine learning engineering and AI.
Tyrone chose Northwestern’s MLDS program for its emphasis on applied learning and collaboration. He is excited to sharpen his technical skills while engaging with classmates, faculty, and industry partners who share his interest in developing AI systems that are both practical and impactful.
