Kun-Yu Lee completed a double major in Computer Science and Data Science at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he graduated with high distinction in December 2024. With a strong interest in quantitative finance and real-world problem-solving, his journey has been shaped by hands-on experience and a deep curiosity about how data can drive smarter, faster decision-making.

During his internship at CTBC Financial Holding in Taiwan, Kun-Yu worked closely with traders to develop real-time heatmaps using Bloomberg data—an experience that introduced him to the complexities of financial markets. While working on a model for new energy products, he began using LSTM models to better capture long-term market trends. Despite the challenges posed by noisy and unpredictable data, this experience sparked his interest in building systems that can adapt and learn in real time.

As a Data Engineer at Aota Carbon, Kun-Yu designed a carbon emission calculator and built a platform for analyzing global sustainability data. He led the research behind emission factor formulas and created tools to support more informed environmental planning. This project strengthened his skills in web development, data modeling, and applying technical tools to broader social issues.

He’s also contributed to research on electric vehicle adoption and built full-stack platforms ranging from a loan processing system for a regional bank to a powerlifting analytics dashboard. With experience in Python, SQL, Spark, and cloud technologies, Kun-Yu continues to explore how data-driven systems can be used to solve complex problems.
