Wangchen He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Statistics and Mathematics in 2025. With a strong interest in using data to uncover actionable insights, she developed solid technical skills in Python, R, SQL, and Tableau, complemented by a strong foundation in statistical modeling and mathematical reasoning. During her undergraduate studies, she completed a biostatistics internship at Jiangsu Nhwa Pharmaceutical, where she contributed to early-phase clinical research. She assisted in refining trial designs, conducted stability analyses and sample size estimations, and helped translate statistical results into insights for decision-making, improving data quality and accelerating the trial process. Wangchen also interned at China Merchants Bank, where she worked on product marketing analytics. There, she analyzed user transaction data, built dashboards to monitor campaign performance, and collaborated with the product team to evaluate the effectiveness of retention strategies. Currently, she is interning at Hikvision in Hangzhou, contributing to the Quality Analysis team. Her work involves conducting weekly and monthly production trend analysis, visualizing defect rates by component type and production line, and tracing quality issues to responsible parties. Her work has supported performance tracking and accountability efforts across multiple manufacturing teams. Through these diverse experiences, Wangchen is excited to join the MLDS program to further strengthen her analytical and technical skills and collaborate with peers on interdisciplinary projects. She is particularly interested in applying data science to product analytics and healthcare, and hopes to build a career as a data scientist who can drive thoughtful, interpretable, and impactful solutions.
