Wenshu Diao earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance with a minor in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University, where she cultivated a strong interest in data-driven problem-solving. Through courses in econometrics, statistics, and programming, she gained hands-on experience working with real-world datasets. She also served as a teaching assistant and peer tutor for multiple quantitative courses, including econometrics and statistical methods, and received recognition for her academic excellence and leadership in the economics department.
Prior to joining the MLDS program, Wenshu worked as a financial data analyst at Dealing Matrix in Shanghai, a firm that provides bond market intelligence and investment insights. In her role, she developed and fine-tuned time series forecasting models, built automated reporting tools, and analyzed user engagement patterns using Python and SQL. Her work directly supported decision-making by trading and product teams and led to measurable improvements in user re-engagement and operational efficiency. She also contributed to cross-functional data projects, gaining experience in collaboration, agile delivery, and stakeholder communication.
Wenshu is passionate about applying machine learning and data science to complex challenges in finance, economics, and public policy. She is particularly interested in predictive modeling, behavioral analytics, and causal inference. Through the MLDS program, she looks forward to deepening her technical skills, engaging with a diverse and collaborative cohort, and preparing for a career in quantitative research or data science in the financial industry.
