Jill Cusick graduated summa cum laude from Boston College in 2020, where she double majored in Economics and International Studies. For her senior economics honors thesis, she used a difference-in-differences design to research “The Impact of Behavioral Nudging on Voter Participation: Evidence from Automatic Voter Registration in Oregon”. She also served as the Managing Editor for The Gavel, BC’s progressive student publication.
For the next five years, Jill worked at Abt Global, a policy research and evaluation firm, where she began as a Research Assistant and ended as a Quantitative Senior Analyst. At Abt, Jill used quantitative methods to evaluate public policy programs in areas ranging from STEM education to homelessness to early childhood care. She led work in data collection, cleaning, and analysis, survey programming and administration, and data visualization in Tableau. Through this work, Jill gained expertise as a liaison between Abt’s technical capabilities and client needs to develop data-driven solutions.
At MLDS, Jill looks forward to building on her programming, analytic, and statistics skills and developing a strong background in machine learning techniques, with the aim of applying her learnings to new industries during and after the program.
