MLDS 401: Predictive Analytics I

Description

The objectives of the course are two-fold:

• To learn to use common parametric regression and classification modeling techniques to develop predictive models for medium to large data sets.
• Understand some basic theory behind these methods.

The course covers multiple regression, logistic regression, discriminant analysis, generalized linear models and Cox proportional hazards regression. R software is used to apply the methods to real data sets. A group project involving predictive modeling for a large data set is required.
