Peer Mentors

The ECD Peer Mentor program aims to support McCormick students in the journey of developing and accomplishing their career and professional goals. Peer Mentors serve an integral role at ECD and wear many hats: mentor, educator, advisor, and consultant.

Peer Mentor Career Advising appointments are currently open and available to all McCormick undergraduate students in freshman, sophomore or junior standing. Peer mentors can assist with advice for career fair prep, considering co-op, job search, resume reviews, cover letter reviews, and networking. All Peer Mentor appointments can be scheduled through McCormickConnect. 

Ella Salcedo

"I am a second-year majoring in Civil Engineering and History with a specialty in Structural Engineering. One fun fact about myself is that I love to bake for my friends and family and especially around the holidays. The reason I became a peer mentor is to challenge myself to learn a whole new set of skills in advising and communication. I also wanted to use my skillset to help other students like me move forward in their career prospects and learn the best strategies and tricks to get started in their industry."

Wesley Ho

"I’m a junior majoring in chemical engineering from Northern California. I took CRDV301 during the spring quarter of my freshman year and used the lessons to secure and complete a co-op during the latter part of my sophomore year. In the future, I plan to obtain a PhD and become a research and development scientist in energy storage, nanotechnology, or consumer goods. After taking CRDV301 and completing co-op, I wanted to serve as a peer mentor to give back to fellow engineering students. Outside the classroom, one of my biggest interests is following professional soccer, specifically the English Premier League. I’m excited to help students on their pathways to career success."

Nathan Foley

"I am a Civil Engineering major interested in pursuing a career related to structural engineering and sustainability. I became a mentor because I believe students should have a peer as a resource when it comes to the job search. My goal is to assist our Career Advisors by providing a student perspective on the job search, digging into how students can find a position that best fits their skills and interests. As an engineering student, I also hope to be a resource for students looking to bridge the gap between their academics and career development. I am excited to begin meeting with you to review your resume or cover letter, chat about the job search, and more!"
