Mental Health Allies Program

During the 19-20 academic year, with support from a grant from Northwestern Alumnae, and lead by the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences, the McCormick Mental Health Ally Program was launched.

The MHA program educates faculty and staff in the McCormick School of Engineering on how to provide assistance to students who are in need of support for mental health challenges, and referral for those in crisis.  Faculty and staff are not in a position to counsel students, rather they are educated as concerned listeners who support and guide students more quickly and directly toward appropriate support services.

Forty-three faculty and staff were trained as Mental Health Allies during the 2019-20 academic year. You’ll be able to identify our MHAs around Tech and beyond by their lapel pins and office space stickers.  We hope students, faculty, and staff will all consider MHAs as a resource within our learning community.
