Robert Linsenmeier chairs Third Biomedical Engineering Education Summit Meeting in June.

The Third Biomedical Engineering Education Summit Meeting will be held on June 16 and 17, 2008 at the Q Center in St. Charles, Illiniois, near Chicago.  Professor Robert Linsenmeier was chosen as the meeting chair for this event, which will be attended by representatives of both US and international biomedical engineering and bioengineering programs, as well as representatives of biomedical industry.  The purpose is to have a focused meeting on undergraduate education in biomedical engineering.   The themes are I. BME Content and Courses, II: Designing Learning Environments, III: Intersection of Academia and Industry, and IV: Preparing for the Future. The attendance will be restricted to two faculty members from each current and emerging program.  Program co-chairs for the meeting are Professors Gerald Miller from Virginia Commonwealth University, and Paul Benkeser from Georgia Tech.  Two previous meetings were sponsored by the Whitaker Foundation.  The meeting in June is being sponsored by the Council of Chairs of Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering,  the Biomedical Engineering Division of the American Society of Engineering Education, the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and the Biomedical Engineering Society.  Additional support has been provided by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering.  Further information about the program and registration is available from Professor Linsenmeier (r-linsenmeier@northwestern.edu)
