    Dr. Ivan Alekseichuk
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences
“Precision Neuromodulation Lab conducts translational R&D in electrophysiology of human mental functions. We fundamentally investigate how macroscale neural communications encode cognition and emotions in wellness and disorders. The Lab’s engineering focus is on developing personalized, adaptive, and closed-loop non-invasive brain stimulation techniques. We specialize in non-invasive neuromodulation (TMS, tACS) with neuroimaging (EEG, MRI), computational head modeling (FEA), and neuronavigated cobotics for the most precise stimulation delivery. Our human experimental program includes neuropsychological studies in mood regulation and memory improvements as well as clinical trials in device-based interventional psychiatry.”

    Dr. Colin Hisey
    Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering
“The Hisey Lab explores biomedical micro- and nanotechnology as it intersects with AI, with a strong focus on extracellular vesicles (EVs). EVs are micro- and nanoscale lipid-enclosed particles that contain diverse molecular cargo and circulate in all bodily fluids as a form of intercellular communication. However, despite their potential in applications ranging from diagnostics to therapeutics, their clinical translation is limited by several technical challenges, including scalable production, isolation, in vitro biomimicry, and rigorous characterization. By employing engineering principles and combining a strong foundation in micro- and nanofabrication with conventional EV-related techniques, our lab aims to develop novel EV platform technologies that overcome these obstacles and accelerate EV applications in cancer, infectious diseases, and reproductive health.”

    Dr. Lisa Volpatti
Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering & Chemical/Biological Engineering
“The overarching goal of the Volpatti Lab is to engineer immunomodulatory drugs such as cytokines to target specific cell or tissue types and reduce the side effects of immunotherapies. We are specifically interested in treating the inflammation that underlies metabolic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver disease, and cancer. Ultimately, we aim to prevent complications associated with obesity independent of cholesterol levels or weight loss.”
