Slutzky Neuroprosthetics Laboratory Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position available in the Slutzky Neuroprosthetics Laboratory, Department of Neurology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Sensorimotor Performance Program (SMPP), Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago

We are actively seeking outstanding a postdoctoral fellow to join our research team in developing neural prostheses, including brain machine interfaces (BMIs) and myoelectric computer interfaces (MCIs) to help people with severe motor impairment from neurologic disorders.  We are seeking highly motivated individuals to start in the fall of 2016 on a new project to develop a wearable MCI to rehabilitate arm motor function in people with stroke.  This project at Northwestern and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab is a multidisciplinary and involves a collaboration with Temple University. We collaborate closely with several other neuroprosthetics laboratories at Northwestern and the Ability Lab, thus providing tremendous educational and networking opportunities.

Desired qualifications include a PhD in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, neuroscience, computer science or related fields. Experience in BMIs or other neuroprosthetics application is preferred.  Candidates should possess some neuroscience and machine learning/statistical/signal processing background as well as proficiency with Matlab and C/C++, Java, and/or Python.  Experience with EMG recordings is also desirable.
