Northwestern University has identified neuroimaging as a major theme for inter-disciplinary research and education and will be hiring multiple faculty in this area. As part of this effort, we are seeking a faculty member to develop and use magnetic resonance (MR) imaging technologies to study brain function and morphology. This position will be jointly appointed between the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. This new hire will join a strong faculty group engaged in neuroimaging and will have a unique opportunity to help shape Northwestern’s vision in neuroimaging.
The primary focus of this position will be on the development of novel imaging methods and data analysis for the purpose of understanding neural structure and function. Candidates are expected to have training in MR physics or engineering. Relevant methodologies include but are not limited to multimodal and multiscale approaches that use MR imaging to understand the microstructural and functional morphology of neural structures in both health and disease. Candidates using human and/or animal models are welcome to apply.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain a distinguished externally-funded research program and contribute to the teaching and advising of graduate and undergraduate students. The collaborative environment at Northwestern University is exceptionally strong, with opportunities for interaction with faculty in additional departments including Radiology, Neurological Surgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Psychology, and Physiology. Appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor will be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience. See http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/sites/pthms/research/index.html and www.bme.northwestern.edu for further information on our faculty and research programs.
Applicants should submit PDF versions of a cover letter, a complete curriculum vitae, the names and contact information for three references, a statement of research interests and a statement of teaching interests (up to 3 pages each). The cover letter should also be addressed to the Chair of the Neuroimaging Search Committee. Applications received before November 1, 2016, will receive full consideration, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Interviews are expected to begin as early as November 2016. The earliest starting date is September 1, 2017.
