The Departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University are seeking a full-time, tenure track faculty member in the area of magnetic resonance neuroimaging at the rank of Assistant Professor or above. Northwestern University has identified neuroimaging as a major theme for inter-disciplinary research and education, and will be making multiple hires in this area.
The primary focus will be the development and application of imaging techniques related to the quantification of brain structure and function. Specific research areas for this position could include but are not limited to (1) development of novel MRI techniques for imaging the human brain based on acceleration strategies such as compressed sensing, or high resolution neural structure imaging such as diffusion tensor imaging (2) use of in-vivo MRI and/or other imaging modalities to explore the blood-brain barrier, brain perfusion, and morphology relevant to pathologies such as stroke and brain tumor evaluation, and (3) development of experimental in-vitro and in-vivo methods to characterize and validate MRI based analysis of brain tissue structure and function. Candidates should hold a PhD in engineering, medical physics, or a related field. A successful record of securing extramural funding is essential for senior candidates and desirable for junior candidates.
Applicants should submit PDF versions of a cover letter, a complete curriculum vitae, the names and contact information for three references, a statement of research interests and a statement of teaching interests (up to 3 pages each).
