BME 469: Critical Issues in Sensorimotor Control

VIEW ALL COURSE TIMES AND SESSIONS

Description

How does the nervous system control and adapt movement from moment to moment?   This course will survey conceptual frameworks used to investigate how sensorimotor systems produce behavior, drawing on both classic and modern studies.  A key aspect of the course will be how sensory information is used to adapt and guide behavior.  We will consider these issues at many levels of the sensorimotor system, including peripheral mechanics and spinal, cortical, basal ganglia and cerebellar circuits. Topics will include sensory coding, active sensing, central pattern generators, cortical dynamics, reinforcement learning, among others. Classes will consist of a combination of lectures and student guided paper presentations.
