Joseph Schofer Named National Associate by National Research Council

McCormick’s Joseph L. Schofer has been designated as a National Associate by the National Research Council of the National Academies.

Schofer, an expert in the planning and management of transportation systems, is professor of civil and environmental engineering, associate dean for faculty affairs, and director of the Infrastructure Technology Institute at the McCormick School of Engineering.

The honorary title is bestowed upon people with an “extraordinary dedication” to the National Academies, which include the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council.

Schofer, who has taught at McCormick since 1970, is active on the Transportation Research Board of the National Research Council, where he has chaired policy studies, taken part in committees and task forces, and served in numerous leadership roles since 1968.
