Yunchu received her Bachelors of Engineering in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Birmingham (UK) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China). After participating in the Great Egg Race where her team built an autonomous line-following robot that carried a chocolate egg, she was fascinated by the intersection of embedded systems and robotics. Specifically, she was intrigued at how the mechanical and electrical designs interacted to provide the functionality of the robot.

In the summer before her final year, she worked as an electronics intern in Norgren UK Engineering Advantage Center. She developed an embedded web and email server for a beverage dispensing system. Besides gaining experience in embedded systems and machine-to-machine communication over the internet (Internet of Things), she enjoyed working with the mechanical engineers and the exposure to a multidisciplinary environment.

Currently, Yunchu is a student in Master of Science in Robotics (MSR)  program at Northwestern University where she also plays the violin in the Philharmonia Orchestra. She is looking forward to strengthening her capabilities in Python and ROS, and to building knowledge in robotic manipulation and mechatronics.
