First-year students

Freshmen Emerging Leader Program (FELP)

FELP is an eight-week seminar focused on the development of emerging student leaders at Northwestern. Its mission is to foster the development of Northwestern first-year students' demonstrated leadership abilities, while networking with other emerging leaders from across campus.

Wildcat Welcome Peer Advising

The Wildcat Welcome Peer Adviser position is a leadership position between the Wildcat Welcome Board of Directors and the group of new students. Peer Advisers advise and support incoming students throughout the summer and throughout their first year at NU. Applicants should display exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for WW, Northwestern University and new students.

Undergraduate Leadership Program (ULP)

Through the Center for Leadership's Undergraduate Leadership Program, students can earn an academic Leadership Certificate as part of their studies at Northwestern. Certificate coursework includes the opportunity for students to take on a major leadership project of their own design. Participants also learn more about the major theories, thinkers and frameworks that leaders use every day, and take an elective course that’s of particular interest to them.

Paradigms & Strategies of Leadership

If you’re interested in meeting with and hearing from extraordinary leaders, and if you’d like to learn about the fundamental challenges and concepts that underlie effective leadership, each Fall Quarter the Center for Leadership offers LDRSHP 204 – Paradigms & Strategies of Leadership.  The course is designed to help you become a leader on campus, in your community, and for your chosen profession.
