Shahid Ahmed

Shahid Ahmed is a Managing Director with Accenture, where he leads the North America Communications Industry and Network Practice. In his role, Shahid helps Communications, Media, and Technology (CMT) clients build new capabilities, operate more efficiently and drive new growth opportunities. During his seventeen year tenure at Accenture, Shahid has been involved in creating many practices including the formation of the Wireless Practice and helping to start the Accenture Cisco Business Group.

Prior to joining Accenture, Shahid held several management positions at Sprint where he rolled out and expanded Sprint’s cellular services in North America. Shahid was also responsible for rolling out the first cellular digital packet data (CDPD) capability in the US.

Affiliations

Shahid is an active member of several wireless industry groups. He currently serves on multiple Advisory Boards such as the Smart Network Council, Cellular Telecommunication and Internet Association (CTIA), Northwestern University Masters in Engineering Management (MEM) Program and The Coral Group. Shahid was also appointed as a board member of Chicago Sinfonietta. The symphony was founded in 1987 to promote diversity, inclusion and innovation in classical music.

In February 2011, Shahid was appointed as an Advisor to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Technical Advisory Council advising the Chairman of the FCC on technology issues facing the United States. Shahid was chairman of the M2M working group and currently chairs the COTS working group
