Parking and Transportation

Once you are on campus, some parking is available at Ryan Field. Please see the Commencement Guidebook App for details or the Evanston campus map. If you park on campus, there will be campus shuttles that traverse a 7-stop loop north on Sheridan from campus to Ryan Field. Plan travel time accordingly — shuttles take longer with stops and traffic on graduation day.

Masks are required on shuttles.

Line-up and Processional

Please arrive no later than 12:30 p.m. to ensure you are there in time for the start of the celebration.

Convocation at Ryan Field begins at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2021. Graduates will enter the stadium through Gate K and check in at the tables to receive your reader card (how our readers will call your name on stage) and your mask to match your regalia.

Guests will enter through Gates S, T, M, N, and Q.

Prohibited Items

The following are prohibited and will be confiscated by University staff: umbrellas, large items that would obstruct others’ views, and weapons. Individuals not complying with the directions of University staff may be asked to leave the ceremony.

Graduates, please give your backpacks, cameras, purses, and other personal effects to a friend or family member for safekeeping. There are no lockers or storage facilities available.

The celebration is at Ryan Field, an outdoor venue. You and your guests should be prepared for any weather by bringing sunscreen or rain gear, though both will be provided. In the case of rain, we will remain outside. In case of severe weather, we will communicate through the Commencement Guidebook App.

Stage Crossing

Graduates will cross the stage and hear their name read as they are congratulated by Dean Julio M. Ottino. Professional photographs will be taken of each student on stage by Dynamic Photos Systems. You must register your information to view the photos, and you can submit your information on the Dynamic Photos Systems website. Questions can be directed to

Graduates will be given a diploma cover at the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to the graduate’s permanent address as it is listed in CAESAR. Please check CAESAR to ensure your permanent address is correct. Diplomas will be mailed later this summer.
