Researchers Study Team Composition for NASA's Mission to Mars

Northwestern faculty members, Noshir Contractor and Leslie DeChurch, along with Suzanne Bell from DePaul University, are in receipt of a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to study "the relationship between composition, interpersonal relations, and team effectiveness in space crews." CREWS (Crew Recommender for Effective Work in Space) will require a three-year, multi-method research effort from faculty, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students. NASA will use the results of this research to help in the assembling of the team of astronauts traveling to Mars, scheduled sometime after 2030.
