A Northwestern alumnus, Howard Tullman (BA '67, JD '70) is the former CEO of 1871 Chicago and the current executive director of the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In his role, he leads the school's efforts to build strong partnerships with external organizations and help students solve complex challenges using entrepreneurship and innovation.
A serial entrepreneur, Tullman founded 1871 Chicago in 2014. The non-profit hub is home to more than 325 digital startups and aims to provide Chicago entrepreneurs with community, education, and inspiration by providing access to mentors, classes, and seminars. He has also launched several of his own startup companies, including Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy, Experiencia, Imagination Pilots, and the Rolling Stone Network.
Tullman's wide-ranging background also includes web development, online services, large-scale information assembly and delivery systems, database design and implementation, and the development of all types and formats of multimedia content. His talk will survey and analyze emerging technology trends, new behavior drivers, and the newest technologies that are changing the face and the future of our lives and our businesses.
