New MEM Video Highlights How Program Develops Engineers into Leaders

Go behind the scenes to learn more about Northwestern's Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program

MEM: Develop Management and Leadership Skills in the Context of Engineering

By Steve Tilley

Every day when I walk through the halls of Northwestern University's McCormick Education Center, I feel the energy of our Master of Engineering Management (MEM) students, and frankly, it is infectious. My colleagues and I have always wanted a way to show that energy to prospective students and other people not involved with the program, but outside of walking through the halls, there hasn't really been a way.

Until now.

We're excited to share our latest program video that I think truly captures the power of a program designed for engineering, science and technical professionals who want to develop core management and leadership skills while staying on the cutting edge of technology. The MEM curriculum combines the core management principles of an MBA with comprehensive quantitative and analytical tools that help engineers evolve from thinking tactically to thinking strategically.

That's what's allowed Northwestern's MEM program to develop innovative and impactful leaders for more than 40 years.

"Our fundamental goal is to help engineers become leaders," MEM Program Director Mark Werwath said in the video, "so going beyond theory and going beyond academics into practical knowledge that engineers can apply in the real world."

The video will introduce you to some of our talented students and alumni, but it also should help you see what your MEM experience could look like. Discover what makes MEM such a powerful degree and find out if it is the right option for you. Then, if you have any questions, please contact us at mem@northwestern.edu.
