EECS Alumnus Jianwei Huang (MS 03' & Ph.D. 05') Named 2016 IEEE Fellow
He is a recipient for his contributions to resource allocation in wireless systems.
EECS alumnus , Prof. Jianwei Huang (MS 03' & Ph.D. 05') has been named a 2016 Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. Prof. Huang is being honored for his contributions to resource allocation in wireless systems.
Less than one in one thousand of IEEE members are honored in this manner each year. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership in the IEEE and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
Prof. Huang is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Network Communications and Economics Lab, in the Department of Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his Bachelors from Southeast University in 2000, Masters and Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2003 and 2005, and worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at Princeton University during 2005-2007. During Prof. Huang's graduate studies at Northwestern, his Ph.D. Thesis Advisors were Prof. Michael L. Honig and Prof. Randall Berry and the title of his Ph.D. dissertation was “Wireless Resource Allocation: Auctions, Games and Optimization.”
His main research interests are in the area of network economics and games, with applications in wireless communications, networking, and smart grid. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Communications Society (2015-2016).
