EECS Hosts HPDC 2014 Program Committee Workshop

HPDC is the premier annual symposium for presenting the latest research on the design, implementation, evaluation, and the use of parallel and distributed systems for high-end computing.

EECS hosted the program committee meeting for the 23rd ACM Symposium on High-performance Parallel and Distributed Computing (HPDC 14') on March 20-21, 2014 in the Norris Center.

HPDC is the premier annual symposium for presenting the latest research on the design, implementation, evaluation, and the use of parallel and distributed systems for high-end computing. Of the 50 internationally recognized experts on the program committee, over 30 traveled to Evanston to attend in person, with the remainder attending by teleconferencing.

The meeting was preceded by a traditional short workshop where program committee members talked about their work. Of the eight talks, three were by faculty with previous EECS connections Prof. Jack Lange (EECS Ph.D. 10', BS 03') Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh, Prof. Ioan Raicu (EECS Postdoc 09'-10') Guest Research Faculty, Argonne National Laboratory and Assistant Professor, Illinois Institute of Technology, Prof. Renato Figueiredo (EECS Assistant Professor 01'-02') Associate Professor, University of Florida. Prof. Peter Dinda facilitated the preparations and hosting of the meeting.

The five-day symposium consisting of the main HPDC conference and its affiliated workshops will be held June 23-27 in Vancouver, Canada. More information can be found on symposium's website.
