Guidance Research Operations during the Pandemic

Please find the following guidance from funding agencies on research operations during the coronavirus pandemic.

Extensions from Federal Agencies on Existing Awards and Progress Reports

Federal agencies are promising flexibility with no-cost extensions on existing awards, progress reports, etc. Work with your research administrator to communicate directly with your funding agencies to make these arrangements.

Late Submissions for New Proposals

Agencies differ in their approach to permitting late submissions for new proposals. For example, the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation are considering them on a case-by-case basis, so you should contact your Program Officer. The US Department of Energy is considering extending deadlines through mid-April. Until then, any requests for extensions should be approved by the program officer. Contact your research administrator if you have questions about a specific proposal.

Also, communicate with your research administrator on your plans for new proposals.
