Argall Named Local Chair of 2014 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems

Prof. Brenna Argall has been named Local Chair for the 2014 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2014), held Sept.14–18 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, IL. 2014.

Prof. Brenna Argall has been named Local Chair for the 2014 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2014), held Sept.14–18 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, IL. 2014.

Prof. Brenna ArgallEECS Masters Student Siddarth Jain along with Prof. Argall from argalllab will be presenting their research, titled, "Automated Perception of Safe Docking Locations with Alignment Information for Assistive Wheelchairs."

Other NU robotics faculty involved in organization, include Prof. Kevin Lynch from the Mechanical Engineering Dept. who has been named General Chair of IROS 2014. A large number of NU robotics PhD students will also be participating as volunteers, as well as select others who will be presenting their research.

IROS 2014 will last for five days, consisting of integrative workshops and tutorials, plenaries, session keynotes, interactive sessions, exhibits, robot demonstrations, an industrial innovation showcase, and social activities for attendees and guests (approximately 1,500-2,000 researchers). The conference will join experts in the field of robotics and automation for technical communications through presentations and discussions. IROS 2014 will create a remarkable environment for attendees to explore the frontier of science and technology in robotics and automation.

The conference is sponsored by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society, the Robotics Society of Japan, the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, the New Technology Foundation, and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. The IEEE Robotics & Automation Society is a very active worldwide research association working on the future of robotics.
