Description

A top on interesting ideas and ongoing projects pushing distributed systems in to new and challenging domains.

COURSE COORDINATOR: Prof. Fabián E. Bustamante

REQUIRED TEXTS: None; material is drawn from recent publications in top conferences.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: To familiarize the student with ongoing research and open problems in distributed systems and networking.

DETAILED COURSE TOPICS: An evolving network; distributed systems underwater, environmental impact, vehicular networks, mobile systems, sensor systems. 

GRADES: Determined roughly as follow: a quarter-long project (50%), paper presentation and discussion leading (20%), class participation (15%) and summaries (15%).
