Bill Baker Inducted into National Academy of Construction

Bill BakerIn March 2012 William Baker, Member of the CEE External Advisory Committee and Adjunct Faculty (link to Adjunct Faculty page) and principal of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, (SOM), was named a member of the National Academy of Construction (NAC).  Baker’s NAC Election citation noted his “outstanding qualifications as a structural engineer leading that discipline with Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill, LLP and having acted as a chief structural engineer on outstanding buildings worldwide.”

In May 2011, Baker delivered the inaugural lecture in the Department’s Distinguished Lecture Series.  Baker is widely regarded for his structural innovation.  Among his honors are member of the National Academy of Engineers and ASCE’s Opal Award for lifetime achievement in design.
