Andrew Sonta Awarded Norman Foster Foundation Workshop Scholarship

Congratulations to Andrew Sonta for being awarded the Norman Foster Foundation Workshop Scholarship! Andrew Sonta was an exemplary student and graduated from Northwestern University in 2015 with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering—he also completed a Certificate in Architectural Design, a Certificate in Sustainability and Energy, and a minor in economics.

Following graduation, he continued on to Stanford University, where he is pursuing a PhD in Sustainable Design and Construction, and where he is a member of the Urban Informatics Lab. Professor David Corr remarks on Sonta’s decision as a unique one—Sonta had many options for continuing studies, but chose Sustainable Design and Construction because he felt it would provide him with options to leverage interests and abilities into making the world a better place.

The Norman Foster Foundation Workshop Scholarship invites the selected students to the Madrid Headquarters of the Norman Foster Foundation to engage with a group of specialists through a series of seminars and lectures culminating in a workshop exploring a certain subject. This year’s workshop is titled “Digital X Workshop.” Sonta is one of ten recipients from nations all around the world and the only student from the United States.
