Civil Engineering Senior Received Two Scholarships from Professional Organizations

Abby ChristmanThis is a good year for Abigail (Abby) Christman, Civil Engineering’14, was awarded two scholarships by the Associated Steel Erectors and the Wire Reinforcement Institute Education Foundation.  In April, Abby was awarded the Illinois Section Structural Engineering Institute Scholarship.

Abby is currently doing her coop with Ohio Department of Transportation.  While on campus, Abby is a member of NU ASCE steel bridge and concrete canoe teams.  She will take the rein of Co-captain of the steel bridge team in the fall. She is also a volunteer tutor at the Family Focus Center in Evanston.

The Wire Reinforcement Institute Education Foundation was formed for the specific purpose of funding and awarding scholarships to qualified high school seniors, as well as current undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at accredited four-year universities or colleges.  Abby was among 6 students from schools such as Princeton University and University of Minnesota who were recognized this year.
