BDNF Mimetic Peptide Amphiphiles for Neural Regeneration

I am a second-year graduate student in the lab of Dr. Michael Markl. The lab's work focuses on the development of 4D Flow MRI, which is a phase-contrast method that provides three-directional velocity measurements throughout the cardiac cycle. Most of the lab focuses on cardiovascular applications, but I am part of a subgroup, spearheaded by Dr. Susanne Schnell, working towards optimizing this approach for neurovascular applications. Specifically, I am focusing my thesis work on improving the applicability of this method to imaging brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM). In this talk, I will present some technical and clinical background on 4D Flow MRI and AVM, and discuss the unique design requirements and trade-offs of using this approach for neurovascular imaging. I'll lay out a roadmap for addressing these challenges and discuss the progress made thus far. At the same time, I hope that seeing what an in-progress PhD might look like will be useful to first-year graduate students.
