As an undergraduate, he was not only awarded the highest distinction in Statistics and Economics (Honors) but also was one of the only three graduates of Class 2021 who won the STAN Award granted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his undergraduate studies, Wencheng accomplished several research projects exploring computational and statistical approaches for interdisciplinary research in different fields such as finance, econometrics, agriculture, and environmental science. Upon graduation from UNC, he began utilizing data techniques to solve real-world problems. Starting from the Founder Securities Research Institute, he learned to use macroeconomic data to conduct data analysis. Then, he completed a two-month internship at one of the top-tier securities in China, China Securities (CSC Financial), where he studied the semiconductor industry and completed in-depth research reports. To understand cloud computing, he joined AWS. He completed two detailed research reports for Metaverse and Open-Source industries investigating the dynamics of frontier technology and provided cloud computing consulting for high-tech startups. In 2022, he joined Source Code Capital as an investment analyst. He has been deeply involved in the investment analysis of 98 startups and completed 15+ industry analyses, including the chemical industry, CCUS, New Materials, AR/VR, and so on. Throughout his professional and academic experiences, Wencheng has continually witnessed and attached the importance of data science and eventually linked his career aspiration to this discipline. Equipped with solid coding skills and statistical knowledge, Wencheng is excited to join the MSiA* program to get more rigorous and systematic data analytics training.
