Peer Advising in Research
Adviser-Mentee Assignments - Spring 2009
About
Research experience plays an ever-increasing role in undergraduate education. However, finding a research position as an undergraduate can be difficult and confusing. Although many resources are available on this website, the Peer Advising in Research program can connect you with current undergraduate researchers in your department. We believe that by talking one-on-one with these experienced peer advisers, you will be able to better understand the realities and goals of various research groups. Ultimately, they could help guide you in finding research opportunities that fit your qualifications and research interests.
The goal of the Peer Advising in Research program is to open a dialogue between undergraduate researchers and those who are interested in starting research. We aim to educate highly motivated McCormick undergraduates about research opportunities and to forge a community of students bound by a passion for scientific research.
How to Participate
For Mentees
If you are interested in starting research and would like to talk to
a peer currently involved in research in a field of your interest,
please fill out the PAR Mentee Form and
send it to murs@northwestern.edu.
All McCormick undergraduates are welcome to apply at anytime. A list
of current Peer Advisers and their research backgrounds, categorized
by department, is available below.
For Advisers
We welcome any McCormick undergraduate currently involved in research
to become a Peer Adviser.
Generally, Peer Advisers will talk about their research work and
experiences to mentees interested in a similar field. If you would
like to become an adviser, please fill out the PAR
Adviser Form and send it to murs@northwestern.edu.
For a description of how the program works, please read PAR Guidelines.
