Drew received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Italian from Brigham Young University in April 2017. During his time there, he developed his interest in robotics through various projects (including a ping-pong-ball shooting robot and a Power Wheels Car upgrade for a child with special needs), and by competing in the University Mars Rover challenge, where his responsibility was to design, program, and control the robotic arm for the team. His team competed against individuals from all over the world to take fourth place.

During his last year-and-a-half of undergraduate education, Drew worked part-time as a mechanical engineering intern at a local Utah company, SpotterRF, where he participated in product testing, mechanical design, and camera driver development. This experience prepared him for work on inter-disciplinary projects requiring elements of mechanical, electrical, and software design.

Drew is excited to be part of the significant research and projects at Northwestern University as he pursues his master's degree in robotics. During his time at Northwestern, he is working to gain greater skills in control systems, optimization methods, and dynamic analysis, and hopes that his time in the MSR program will better enable him to contribute to the ever-evolving field of robotics.

In his free time, Drew enjoys spending time with his family, reading, working on personal mechatronics projects, and hiking.
