Austin Lawrence is an alumnus of the Northwestern MS Robotics program. He is attracted towards problems that have the biggest global impact, particularly in topics of sustainability, urbanization, and job creation.  He has co-founded two ag-tech startups: Future Tech Farm, where he designed closed-loop sensory systems for consumer hydroponic systems, and his present venture, RoBotany, where he is developing B2B commercial robotic equipment for the vertical farming industry.  Austin is now a soft roboticist for Disney Research, Pittsburgh, researching a new breed of soft actuation and fluidic circuitry for smart musical instrumentation and manipulation.  His ambition is to pursue doctoral studies within soft machines, as an opportunity to develop novel applications for both household and manufacturing robotics.
