McCormick Moves Up in Recent U.S. News and World Report Rankings

Recently released rankings from the U.S. News and World Report show that Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science has moved up on the list of the nation’s best graduate engineering programs. McCormick is now ranked 20th among graduate engineering programs, up from 21st last year.

Specific graduate programs within the school also ranked in the top 20: biomedical engineering ranked 15th, chemical engineering ranked 16th; civil engineering ranked 12th, industrial engineering ranked 4th, materials science ranked 3rd, and mechanical engineering ranked 11th.

“While these rankings are only one measure of the success of our school, they do have an impact,” says McCormick Dean Julio M. Ottino. “We are pleased to see McCormick advance in the rankings in recognition of our growth in both education and research.”

In the latest undergraduate engineering rankings, released last August, McCormick climbed to 13th among the nation’s best engineering schools, up from 14th last year.
