Joseph Schofer Speaks on Transportation on ABC7 NewsViews

Joseph Schofer, professor of civil and environmental engineering, associate dean for faculty affairs, and director of the Infrastructure Technology Institute at the McCormick School of Engineering, recently appeared on ABC7 Chicago NewsViews to discuss rising gasoline prices and Chicago-area traffic congestion.

In reference to gas price hikes changing consumer practices, Schofer said, "People respond to price signals if they have an alternative that's a good alternative. That really underscores the importance of public transit and features of public transit that draw people to it: frequency of service, reliability, and what I would call seamless travel, so that you can go from your home to your destination in an easy way."
