The latest issue of the Materials Research Society bulletin features the theme of atom-probe tomography in honor of David Seidman, Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering who was selected as the society’s 2008 Turnbull Lecturer.

According to Seidman, who co-guest-edited the issue, “Atom-probe tomography (APT) is in the midst of a dynamic renaissance as a result of the development of well-engineered commercial instruments that are both robust and ergonomic and capable of collecting large data sets, hundreds of millions of atoms, in short time periods compared to their predecessor instruments.”

Lincoln Lauhon, assistant professor of materials science and engineering, co-wrote a piece for the issue, and Tobin Marks, Vladimir N. Ipatieff Research Professor of Chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, is featured.
