McCormick Students and Faculty Recognized by the Women's Center

Three McCormick women and members of a McCormick student group were among those recently honored at a dinner held by the Women's Center for their work in encouraging and mentoring women.
The awards dinner was part of the Women's Center's 2006-07 celebration of the 20th anniversary of the center's founding and the center's goal to spotlight contributions of women at Northwestern through a series of campus-wide events.
The featured speaker was Carol Hollenshead, director of the University of Michigan's Center for the Education of Women.
Katherine Faber, Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and former chair of the department, and Barbara Shwom, college lecturer in the Writing Program and faculty member for the Engineering Design and Communication Program, were honored at the dinner. McCormick student honorees were Megan Greenfield, a McCormick School third year graduate student in chemical and biological engineering, and members of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
Other honorees included Jean Shedd, associate provost; Janet E. O'Connor, research speech language pathologist, School of Communication; and Theresa Parker, assistant dean, Kellogg School of Management; Kamardip Singh, a senior in the Weinberg College; and the members of the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA).
