VIDEO: Northwestern Formula Racing Showcases Car in Formula SAE Michigan
Northwestern Formula Racing is a McCormick student group that gives undergraduates the opportunity to design, build, and compete an open-wheel car over the course of one year.
From May 9 to 12, the group took their newest creation to the Michigan International Speedway for Formula SAE Michigan 2012, an annual competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
More than 100 teams from around the world competed in the event — but not all were lucky enough to make it onto the racetrack. Only after presentations and a series of safety checks can students drive their cars on the track to showcase its handling, breaking, and acceleration.
How did Northwestern Formula Racing fare in this year’s race? Watch the video to find out.
