Daniel Lee Named McCormick STAR Award Winner

Daniel Lee and Richard M. Lueptow, senior associate dean for operations and research

Daniel Lee, database/web applications lead in the information technology department at the McCormick School of Engineering, was recognized with the winter quarter’s STAR award at a staff recognition event on April 26.

The STAR award — which stands for Staff Team Appreciation and Recognition — is given quarterly to a McCormick employee who demonstrates leadership and goes above and beyond his or her regular duties.

Lee was recognized for his outstanding customer service skills during a recent system redesign.

“Your expertise in developing web-based systems and dedication to excellent customer service have enhanced McCormick IT’s ability to exceed users’ expectations,” his award states. “As a result of your patience and responsiveness, the transition to a new web-based database was seamless. Your high quality of work, responsiveness, and extra effort is recognized as deserving of this award.”

Winners of the STAR Award are nominated by fellow staff and faculty, and a selection committee recommends a finalist to the dean for selection.
