SIGSPATIAL is one of the ACM Special Interest Groups (SIG).

Prof. Goce Trajcevski

ACM SIGSPATIAL addresses issues related to the acquisition, management, and processing of spatially-related information with a focus on algorithmic, geometric, and visual considerations. The scope includes, but is not limited to, geographic information systems (GIS).

The newly elected officers, to serve a 3 year term also include: Cyrus Shahabi (Chair), University of Southern California, Egemen Tanin (USA Secretary), University of Melbourne, John Krumm (Australia Treasurer), Microsoft Research, USA; as well as appointed officers: Newsletter Editor, Andreas Züfle, George Mason University, USA Webmaster, Ibrahim Sabek, University of Minnesota, USA.

In recent years, Prof. Goce Trajcevski has served as Workshops Co-Chair and (presently) as a Program Committee Co-Chair of the ACM SIGSPATIAL 2017 Conference. Its aim is to bring together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners focusing on systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge, and to foster interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic information systems. The conference provides a forum for original research contributions covering all conceptual, design, and implementation aspects of geospatial data ranging from applications, user interfaces, and visualization to data storage and query processing and indexing.
