Indicate interest in the Data Science & Engineering minor and join our mailing list. Applications will open in August 2023 for the next cohort. All majors are welcome!
Application Requirements
To apply you must:
- Be a current McCormick undergraduate student in at least your second year
- Have completed Engineering Analysis 1 prior to the start of the Fall 2023 term.
- Be able to take DATA_ENG 200 in 2024 and DATA_ENG 300 in 2025*. Both courses are offered in Winter and Spring.
*We will admit seniors as space allows for 2023-2024. Seniors must be able to take DATA_ENG 200/300 in Winter and Spring 2024.
If interest exceeds capacity, students will be chosen from the applicant pool by lottery and all will be notified about their status by email.
A small number of students graduating prior to Spring 2025 may be admitted if space allows. Interested students are welcome to apply.
Confirming Participation after Acceptance into the Program
To confirm participation in the program, each student must:
- Submit a minor declaration form in MAS no later than September 14, 2023
- Complete CS 150 or CS 211 before beginning DATA_ENG 200
Students must register for DATA_ENG 200 in Winter 2024 or Spring 2024, or must reapply to the program the following year. DATA_ENG 300 will be offered in Winter 2025 and Spring 2025, and requires completion of one course in each of Statistics Foundations, Machine Learning, and Intermediate Programming and Algorithmic Thinking.
