Who is eligible to apply?

The recipient of the position should be a faculty member who has received permission from the home institution to take a sabbatical or academic leave and is interested in collaborating with a Biomedical Engineering faculty member at Northwestern University for 6-12 months during the academic year. 

How do I apply?

What will the support cover?

The support provided by the McCormick School of Engineering, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and collaborating faculty member will cover the salary, housing, travel, and medical insurance of the visiting scholar faculty member.

How soon will the applicants know whether or not they’ve been selected?

The applicants will all be notified in mid-February 2018, for the 2018/2019 academic year, about whether or not their application has been selected.  Please keep in mind that this is a yearly process, and we encourage repeat applications each year.  Unfortunately, only one visiting scholar can be supported each year through this program. 

When is the application deadline for the 2018/2019 academic year?

Applications for the 2018/2019 academic year are due on January 15, 2018. Please see submission instructions on the Biomedical Engineering website listed above.

How do I find out about housing options/best locations within the area if I am selected?

Your host faculty will be the best point of contact for these questions. There will also be an informational packet distributed to you electronically, which will include numerous resources for everything you need to know about Evanston, Illinois.
