Saurabh graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (Benaras Hindu University) -Varanasi with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Apart from regular coursework, he actively took part in extra-curricular activities. He represented the University in national and state level competitions on various platforms. He was also a part of “Kashi Utkarsh (KU)”, a student run social organization which focused towards providing quality and affordable education among the marginalized sections of society.

Saurabh has over 4.5 years of experience in the information and technology industry. As a technology analyst at Infosys Technologies, he implemented multiple solutions based on conventional analysis to assess the value and risk associated with any oil well. He made notable contributions in developing platform independent packages for on-the-fly analysis of simulation data. He also made assiduous efforts to create automated maintenance modules for all the solutions which he worked on. Such efforts made him realize the impact and potential of incorporating analytical techniques with the existing software development process. In his next venture with Seven lakes Technologies, he made significant contributions in developing over half a dozen BI/Analytics products for the Oil & Gas domain. Later, he was involved in overhauling the front-end architecture of these products for obviating performance bottlenecks which caused high CPU usage and heavy memory leaks. As a software professional, he has witnessed a variety of processes which are repetitive in nature still take a human centric approach which inherently makes them labour-intensive and time consuming. He believes that the recent analytical advancements can be pivotal in creating a more machine-driven approach for redefining these processes. This motivated him to pursue a more advanced and in-depth course in the field of analytics.

Saurabh intends to leverage the exhaustive curriculum of the MSiA programme at Northwestern to get a comprehensive understanding of predictive analytics, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing. With the correct tools in his repertoire, he aims to create intelligent platforms upon which robust and scalable cognitive solutions can be built which can cater to businesses across domains.
