Sarah graduated from the University of Michigan in 2015 with a B.S. in Data Mining and Information Analysis and a minor in Spanish Language and Culture. She began her undergraduate journey studying theoretical mathematics but was later inspired by the translation of classical mathematical theory to modern applications. As a result, Sarah’s undergraduate courses, while rooted in statistical and mathematical theory, branched into modern day application with a curriculum that included coding, experimental design, and applied statistics. Prior to graduation, Sarah worked as an analytics intern at the marketing agency MRM//McCann on the team responsible for General Motors’ credit card accounts.

Following graduation, fueled by her commitment to continued learning, Sarah accepted a position as a Venture for America Fellow. Venture for America is a two-year fellowship for recent graduates who are passionate about entrepreneurship. Fellows work at startups in emerging cities to grow these companies and spark job creation. As a Fellow, Sarah worked at Rendia, a Baltimore based patient education software company, as their Business Analyst and Strategist. As the one and only analyst at Rendia, Sarah worked across all departments to set up tracking mechanisms, analyze resulting data, and implement subsequent data-driven changes.

While Sarah looks forward to deepening her knowledge of advanced analytics and predictive modeling throughout her time at Northwestern, she is most excited about working alongside and learning from her cohort of data-driven peers. Sarah is eager to build on her existing knowledge and strengthen her ability to wrangle big data, derive insights, and create solutions for real industry projects. Following graduation from the MSiA program, Sarah intends to apply her newfound knowledge in a role which harnesses the power of big data and analytics to create a product or solution.
