Matthew’s interest in analytics began at Lewis and Clark College, where he graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics. Focusing on statistics, linear algebra, and econometrics, he was quickly introduced to the advantages of utilizing large data sets in his projects and research. His curiosity in applied statistics led him to enroll in multiple Computer Science courses that involved numerical analysis, and to author an empirical honors thesis for his Economics capstone project.

After graduation, Matthew moved to Seattle to begin his career in data analytics. Most recently, he worked as a Data Analyst on GetInsured’s Data Operations team. This position required creating and managing data integrations, and improving the scalability of their existing ETL infrastructure. During his time with GetInsured, Matthew greatly improved his ability to design, develop, and implement data processing solutions. In addition to refining his technical skills, his interpersonal abilities allowed him to effectively communicate across teams, with management and with clients. At GetInsured Matthew enjoyed building efficiencies into procedures, researching data discrepancies, and thinking critically in a dynamic work environment.

At Northwestern, Matthew is ready to build upon his academic and professional background in analytics. He is excited to collaborate with his peers on academic and industry projects, improve his understanding of predictive analytics, and leverage his previous experiences into practical and creative solutions.
