Born in Ohio and raised in Alabama, Collin graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. It was here that he became obsessed with the art and science of working with data. Collin, being eager to apply his technical acumen in a professional environment, searched for challenging internships and research positions that would open his eyes to the versatility of analytics.

Collin decided early in his undergraduate career to pursue a research position where his curiosity and drive would be valued. While working at Auburn’s School of Kinesiology, Collin analyzed gigabytes of time series data and contributed to multiple studies that have been presented at several biomechanics conferences. This research experience gave Collin the idea to explore jobs in data driven industries. As a result during the summer of 2015, Collin interned with AT&T in Dallas, Texas. There, he actively listened to the complaints of professional engineers around him and took the initiative to simplify their problem-solving process. Collin created an automated script in Excel VBA that saved his team significant time and money by condensing a cumbersome search process into a digestible set of tables. When he saw AT&T’s electrical engineers being trained in the tools needed to become data scientists, Collin decided to apply to a graduate school where he could learn from the best and broaden the opportunities available to him.

Collin is truly excited to join the MSiA program at Northwestern University and learn the highest level statistical and programming concepts used in data science. He knows this experience will prepare him for his ultimate career goal of communicating powerful analytical insights that help an organization operate with greater efficiency.
