Eric is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, (UCLA) with a B.S in in Mathematics and Economics.  His undergraduate work in statistics included analysis of variance models, multiple comparison procedures, variable selection techniques, and analysis of covariance.

While pursuing his degree, Eric also completed a couple of investment research internships; his most recent being at an investment management company, Advaya Investments. As an Equity Research Analyst, Eric analyzed a wide variety of companies, researching industry and business prospects and doing a financial analysis of the companies. His thorough and insightful analysis resulted in a number of well-timed purchase and sale recommendations. During his internships, Eric became exposed to the growing influence of data analytics on a company’s strategic decision making process. This was part of his inspiration to enter the Analytics program at Northwestern.

Eric also wrote a technology column reviewing smartphone apps for a local newspaper.  His column became one of the newspaper’s most viewed. Additionally, Eric was asked to create a radio segment based on his app reviews, for an internet radio show with listeners in over 140 countries.

Since graduating early, Eric has taken numerous courses (provided by Coursera) in Python, statistics, and in other areas of data analysis. Eric is looking forward to immersing himself in the MSiA program. His intention is to attain a high level of proficiency in data analysis skills, enabling him to help companies gain meaningful and timely insights from their own data.
