Jason Jung

Raised in three different countries—Korea, China, and the United States, Jason graduated with a B.A. in Business Economics and a minor in Chinese from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Always curious, Jason took many courses apart from his university degree requirements, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, and more.

After graduating from UCLA, Jason joined Deloitte & Touché in their Financial Transactions department. He worked in the Accounting and Reporting Transformation group that solved complex accounting problems in mergers and acquisitions, initial public offering, and financial reporting. In addition, he worked with different groups within Deloitte, such as Exploratory Data Analytics and Project Management Office.

Even though Jason was originally pursuing a CPA and CFA, he was mesmerized by how machine learning and statistical modeling could efficiently handle big data when he took a course in econometrics. After taking more data science courses online, he decided that going back to graduate school would be the best option to train and equip him to become the next successful data scientist. With the skill set he will acquire at Northwestern, Jason hopes to make this world a more efficient place.
